You can’t just move on with your day after reading that—or at least I couldn’t.

Especially today, when bodies are sick and institutions are failing and the very nature of our country is being perverted. We need the wisdom and power of heaven on earth like never before.

Another quote I had to underline was this. “Jesus isn’t invisible. The Scriptures tell us He has a body. He is healing this body so we can display Him well” (page 127).

We know that we’re that body. Not our church congregation but the sum of all who are born of the Holy Spirit. And each one is unique as Paul explains in 1 Corinthians 12 when he talks about the foot, the eye, the ear, and the sense of smell, then goes on to teach about spiritual gifts.

Can you imagine a body with legs that aren’t aligned to take steps together or arms that flail or hearing that isn’t in touch with the tongue? It’s a mess.

But look at a marching band. Vastly different instruments play their own notes while those who carry them take different steps all over a field. Sounds like chaos, but with a plan and a leader, the result is beautiful music, moving pictures, and the spelling of words. It’s how we as Christ’s body are meant to be.

Christ is our Head, and without Him, we’re disjointed and ineffective. But if we as “cells” in his body were to move and act in tune with Him… God’s heart would be revealed. Revival would become reformation, and our society would be transformed.

Which brings me back to Chris’s devotional book and its vision of the body of Christ. In this world for such a time as this. The purpose God made us for and saved us to fulfill — to disciple the nations for Christ, that he might have his rightful inheritance.

The Enemy’s attacks have awakened us, but he’s overplayed his hand. We’ve been aroused to put on our spiritual armor and been reminded of our authority in His Name. Whether in our family or city or our nation, each of us is called to walk as Jesus did, displaying his Kingdom’s compassion, wisdom, and power on earth as it is in Heaven.

As we receive the love God pours into us and listen to Holy Spirit, Jesus’ body will reveal the meaning of his victory on the Cross. We’ll be formed into the Bride we are meant to be, suitable for our King.

Prayer: Lord, draw me close in your love and show me my part in bringing Jesus’ Kingdom into the darkness of this world.
